Job Summary:
The Cybercrime Analyst is responsible for conducting comprehensive analysis and investigation of cybercrime incidents. This role involves utilizing advanced technical skills and knowledge of cybercrime trends to identify patterns, assess risks, and support law enforcement efforts in combating cyber threats. The Cybercrime Analyst collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to collect and analyze digital evidence, develop intelligence reports, and provide recommendations to enhance cybercrime prevention strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth analysis of cybercrime incidents, including but not limited to hacking, data breaches, identity theft, online fraud, and other cyber-related offenses.
- Utilize specialized software, tools, and techniques to collect and preserve digital evidence from various sources, such as computers, networks, mobile devices, and social media platforms.
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies, computer forensic experts, and other relevant stakeholders to identify and track cybercriminals, their methods, and associated networks.
- Assess the severity and potential impact of cybercrime incidents and provide recommendations on appropriate response measures, including legal action and prevention strategies.
- Analyze large sets of data to identify patterns, trends, and emerging cyber threats, contributing to the development of proactive measures to prevent future cybercrimes.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations summarizing findings, investigative procedures, and recommendations for law enforcement agencies, legal professionals, and other stakeholders.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in cybercrime investigation techniques, tools, and regulations to ensure continuous improvement in the analysis and prevention of cybercrimes.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of cybercrime investigation techniques, including digital forensics, network analysis, and data recovery.
- Proficiency in using specialized software and tools for cybercrime analysis, such as Encase, Wireshark, Cellebrite, and open-source intelligence (OSINT) tools.
- Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and legal procedures related to cybercrime investigation and digital evidence handling.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets, identify patterns, and draw logical conclusions.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
